The W196 participated in the Formula One of 1954 and 1955, winning 9 out of 12 races using its advanced engineering based on the Messerschmitt Bf109 fighter plane. It was one of the most cutting-edge vehicles of its time, and was bought just a few years ago for $24million, making it, at the time, not just the most expensive Mercedes Benz vehicle sold, but the most expensive car ever bought as well.

There is an increasingly popular sport that seems to be sweeping many rural parts of the country known as “mud bogging.” For those living out in the country, and who are familiar with the fact that it can sometimes be a little boring on certain occasions, mud bogging can be exciting. Remember, though; mud bogging requires strong mudding trucks in order to get in the mud and go wild.
Nowadays, the sport has grown so popular that there is an actual league and events held all over the country. This sort of activity differs from just taking a truck and going out on a 4×4 excursion, also. This is because it takes place in a bog or trench of certain length and will need a powerful truck that has been fitted for this purpose. Usually, these kinds of trucks are known as “boggers.”
In the sport, it’s a fact that the single most important piece of equipment needed is a good truck with a powerful engine. Such an engine is required because the truck will be deliberately piloted down into a deep, muddy trench and it could easily get stuck in this trench — which can sometimes be up to a mile long — if the engine isn’t doing its part to prevent it from bogging down.
Any good truck used in this sport also needs to be correctly built or set up so that it works to prevent the engine from blowing up while maneuvering the truck through the trench. The truck will be fitted with a lift kit and will need a good, strong transmission that works with the engine to keep it from getting stuck. It must be able to get itself into and out of the trench without assistance.

Auto insurance fraud is a common form of white-collar financial fraud. An example of common fraud is when a group of shady health care providers intends to cheat insurance companies by performing a fake accident and having the alleged victims file false claims and actually receiving a portion of the profits of such claims. As the claim include injuries which require diagnoses of terminal pain or disability, medical institutions such as dental clinics, physical therapists, pharmacies, and orthopedic and medical supply companies are included as participants.
At one time, this type of fraud was easier to commit undetected, as medical claims in general were paid quickly and with little scrutiny. Now, with the rising costs of medical care, and the increasing use of computerized systems to audit claims, insurance companies are able carefully inspect every claim, and their computer systems are designed to root out fraud. However, far too much fraud still goes undetected, and law enforcement has had to rely on informants rather than insurance companies themselves to break the rings and arrest the perpetrators of this costly form of fraudulent activity.
Recently, dozens of participants in an ongoing auto insurance scam were arrested in Florida. The scam was a very typical one, in which the first level of participants staged minor accidents but claimed that they had sustained injuries. The accident participants then had claims filed for them by a “fraud mill,” a clinic which was set up by the masterminds of the scam solely to file insurance claims. The “fraud mill” simply asked the participants to sign insurance forms, which were then filled out by the illegal clinic and sent to various insurance companies. Since Florida drivers carry a mandatory PIP, or personal injury protection, policy as part of their auto insurance, there is no need to prove fault or to adjudicate any claims – they can simply be submitted for reimbursement to auto insurers.
In this case, it was the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud, with the assistance of the U.S. Secret Service, which put an end to the fraud. A spokesperson for the Florida Division of Insurance Fraud estimates that legitimate auto insurance policy holders have paid $50 extra in annual premiums because of the cost of these fraudulent claims. This means that, unless the industry takes measures to prevent this type of fraud before claims are paid out, it is the honest consumer who repays the money that was in essence stolen by the criminal rings.
Every year, tens of millions of dollars are incurred by insurance companies as losses due to fraudulent claims. Efforts need to be made, especially with sophisticated technology available today, in order to prevent insurance fraud immediately before insurance companies are forced to raise premiums in areas such as Miami-Dade County in Florida where fraud occurs frequently. The state of Florida has a no-fault structure where claims for personal injury protection insurance have no judicial process to determine who is responsible, which is what largely led to frequent fraudulent claims filed.
